Good Hope joiner stabbed to death outside home

A 23-year-old joiner was stabbed to death early Monday morning during a confrontation near his home at Phase 1, Good Hope, East Coast Demerara (ECD).

Dead is Navin Jangbir, called “Buddy.” Police said the alleged murder occurred around 12:45 a.m. on Monday, August 10, 2026.

According to preliminary investigations, Jangbir was in the vicinity of his residence when an altercation broke out between him and a group of males.

During the confrontation, he reportedly received a stab wound to the left side of his abdomen and later collapsed near his home.

Emergency Medical Technicians were called to the scene, where Jangbir was pronounced dead by a doctor on duty from the Georgetown Public Hospital.

His body was taken to Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, where it is awaiting a post-mortem examination. Police said CCTV cameras were seen in the area, and investigators are examining footage as part of the probe.

No arrests have been made. Investigations are ongoing.
