Two sisters were rushed to hospital Monday night after a confrontation along West Front Road, West Ruimveldt, ended in gunfire.
Police said the shooting occurred around 7:30 p.m. and involved two women, ages 26 and 31, and a 48-year-old security guard from Bent Street, Werk-en-Rust, Georgetown.
According to preliminary investigations, the sisters were seated along West Front Road when an altercation developed between them and the security guard.
During the confrontation, the man reportedly discharged several rounds from a firearm he had in his possession.
Police said the 26-year-old woman was shot to her left ankle and upper left leg, while her 31-year-old sister sustained gunshot injuries to her right foot and left leg.
Both women were taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation, where they remain under medical care. Their conditions are listed as stable.
The security guard was later contacted at a private hospital, where he was also receiving treatment for an injury. His condition is also listed as stable.
Investigators said the firearm used in the incident was a licensed Glock 19 pistol, owned by the security guard. The weapon was retrieved and lodged, along with two magazines containing 27 live 9mm rounds.
One spent shell was also recovered at the scene. Police said CCTV cameras were seen in the area and will be reviewed as investigations continue.
