Welder in custody after woman assaulted at Bartica beach

Police in Region Seven have launched an investigation into an unlawful wounding incident that left a young woman injured at Bartica Golden Beach on Monday night.

The victim has been identified as Nolecia Edmonds, a 20-year-old unemployed resident of Third Avenue, Bartica.

According to preliminary investigations, the incident occurred around 20:25 hrs on March 2, 2026, when Edmonds encountered a 32-year-old welder from Five Miles Housing Scheme, Bartica. Police said the two are known to each other.

Reports indicate that an argument erupted between the pair while they were at Bartica Golden Beach. During the confrontation, the suspect allegedly assaulted the woman, causing her to sustain injuries.

The matter was later reported to the police, and the suspect was subsequently contacted and taken into custody.

Edmonds was taken to the Bartica Regional Hospital, where she was examined by a doctor on duty before being sent away. Police said investigations into the incident are ongoing.
