Senior Minister in the Office of the President with Responsibility for Finance, Dr. Ashni Singh, says the Government’s highly anticipated 2026 national budget will be anchored in the People’s Progressive Party/Civic’s (PPP/C’s) 2025 election commitments.
Dr. Singh argued that the party’s manifesto is the clearest public guide to what citizens can expect in the first full budget since the administration was re-elected.
Singh made the comments during an interview on the Starting Point Podcast aired Sunday, where he was asked to share what areas would receive increased support in the 2026 budget and when it is expected to be presented.

While saying he would “constrain” what he disclosed at this stage, Dr. Singh stressed what he described as “policy clarity and policy continuity,” noting that the Government had already laid out, in writing, its plans for the next five years ahead of the September 1, 2025 General and Regional Elections.
“The national budget for 2026 is the first budget since we’ve been reelected,” Singh said, adding that each budget in the new term will have, as its principal objective, delivering the commitments made in the party’s manifesto over the next five years.
Dr. Singh did not outline specific allocations or sector-by-sector increases, but maintained that Budget 2026 is intended to “put us on a path” to fulfil “every single commitment” made during the campaign period.
Beyond Sunday’s interview, the Minister has previously said preparations for Budget 2026 are already underway, with ministries and agencies submitting proposals and consultations continuing as the Finance Ministry finalises priorities.
