Read below the statement issued by the Guyana Police Force (GPF):
The Guyana Police Force has taken note of a video circulating on social media depicting an incident involving minors in Region #5.
The matter was reported to Police on Thursday September 10, 2026 and has been under investigation since. As part of the investigation, two brothers, ages 14 and 11, were taken into Police custody on the same day the report was made and were subsequently released into the care of their father.
Statements have been obtained and the relevant child welfare authorities are involved in the matter. Police are presently awaiting the requisite pre-charge report as the investigation progresses.
The parents of the victims have been kept informed of the progress of the investigation. The Guyana Police Force assures the public that the matter remains under active investigation and that the appropriate action will be taken in accordance with the law and established procedures.
