Students and teachers of Sophia Primary School are set to benefit from improved learning conditions following the commissioning of a brand-new school wing.

The new facility, which was constructed at a cost of $233,097,074, is expected to significantly reduce overcrowding at the school while creating a more comfortable and modern environment for both teaching and learning.

The expansion features nine classrooms, a headteacher’s office, two washroom blocks, and a spacious auditorium that will serve the children and wider Sophia community for years to come.

Delivering remarks at the commissioning ceremony, Minister Parag noted that the investment reflects the government’s continued commitment to strengthening educational infrastructure and ensuring students across Guyana have access to quality learning spaces.

The project forms part of ongoing efforts by the Ministry of Education to modernize schools and enhance educational opportunities in communities nationwide.
