Police are investigating the drowning death of a one-year-old child at Cracrana Village, South Pakaraimas, on Wednesday morning.
Dead is Ethan Christian of Cracrana Village. According to the Guyana Police Force (GPF), the alleged drowning occurred between 11:30 a.m. and 11:43 a.m.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the child was at home with his mother when she reportedly left him lying on a bed inside the house and went to use a nearby toilet.
When she returned, the child was no longer on the bed. A search was then carried out in and around the house, and the child was later found lying face down and motionless in a pool of water about three feet deep, located some 100 feet away from the home.
The child was rushed to the Karasabai Public Hospital, where a doctor pronounced him dead on arrival. Police said the body was examined and no marks of violence were observed.
It is currently at the Karasabai Public Hospital mortuary. Investigations are ongoing.
