A 49-year-old driving instructor from West Coast Demerara (WCD) has been sentenced to one year in prison after pleading guilty to sexually assaulting a 17-year-old.
Eldon Baggot, called “Andy,” of Lot 33 North East Stewartville, West Coast Demerara, appeared before Magistrate Omadatt Chandan at the Leonora Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday.
Baggot was charged with sexual assault, contrary to Section 4(3) of the Sexual Offences Act, Chapter 8:03. The offence was committed against a 17-year-old on May 4, 2026, in Region Three.
Baggot had been arrested two days later, on May 6, but was formally charged on September 16. When the charge was read to him on Wednesday, Baggot pleaded guilty.
Magistrate Chandan subsequently sentenced him to one year’s imprisonment.
