Couple dead, woman injured in La Parfaite Harmonie murder-suicide

A Saturday night argument at a La Parfaite Harmonie home ended in bloodshed after gunfire erupted, leaving a couple dead, and a 59-year-old woman nursing gunshot wounds.

Dead are 42-year-old Ana Trotman, a shop owner of La Parfaite Harmonie, and 47-year-old John Trotman, of Onderneeming, West Bank Demerara.

The shooting occurred between 21:45hrs and 22:15hrs on Saturday, July 18, 2026, at a residence in La Parfaite Harmonie.

According to police, preliminary enquiries revealed that an argument reportedly broke out at the residence shortly before several loud explosions were heard.

Police ranks and emergency medical personnel responded to the scene, where Ana and John were found with gunshot injuries.

A 59-year-old woman, who also sustained gunshot injuries during the incident, was taken to the West Demerara Regional Hospital, where she is receiving medical attention.

Police said a Taurus .32 calibre pistol, nine spent .32 calibre shells and 30 live rounds of ammunition were recovered at the scene and lodged pending investigation.

The bodies of Ana and John were escorted to the West Demerara Regional Hospital, where they were pronounced dead on arrival by a doctor on duty.

Their remains were later taken to the Ezekiel Funeral Home, where post-mortem examinations are expected to be conducted. Investigations are ongoing.
