Police are investigating a late-night shooting in Albouystown that left a 27-year-old chef hospitalised after he was shot in the thigh.
The incident occurred at about 11:30 p.m. on Saturday at Hunter Street, Albouystown, Georgetown, according to police.
Investigators said the injured man, who lives on Barr Street, Albouystown, was at the location with several other persons when he was approached by a suspect coming from the western side.
Police said the suspect was armed with a handgun and allegedly pointed it at the victim before firing two shots. The rounds struck the chef in his left thigh.
After the shooting, the gunman escaped on a waiting motorcycle that had been parked on the western side of Hunter Street.
The injured man was rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital by public-spirited citizens, where he was examined by a doctor and admitted as a patient.
Police said his condition is stable. Investigators also noted that CCTV footage from the area will be reviewed as part of the probe.
No arrests have been made so far. Investigations are ongoing.
