A collision on the Edinburgh Public Road, East Bank Berbice (EBB), has claimed the life of 20-year-old Adriano Anthony, after a car reportedly turned into the path of his motorcycle on Saturday night.

Anthony, of New Glasgow Housing Scheme, died while receiving treatment at the New Amsterdam Public Hospital.

The crash occurred around 7:50 p.m. and involved Anthony’s motorcycle, CR 6077, and motor car PJJ 8613. A 22-year-old man from Lochaber Village, West Canje, Berbice, was driving the car.

According to preliminary police findings, Anthony was travelling south along the eastern driving lane, allegedly at high speed. The car had been stationary on the western side of the road before its driver reportedly made a sudden left turn into the motorcycle’s path.

The motorcycle struck the car’s left side, and Anthony was thrown onto the roadway.

A person who witnessed the collision reportedly helped transport him for medical attention. He later died at the hospital, and his body is awaiting a post-mortem examination.

The eyewitness also claimed that two motorcycles appeared to be racing before the collision and that one had no lights illuminated. Police have not confirmed either claim.

Investigators said a breathalyser test administered to the car’s driver returned a zero reading. He remains in custody as enquiries continue.
