Nissan X-Trail stolen outside Linden supermarket, Suspect arrested

Police in Linden have arrested a 27-year-old man as investigations continue into the alleged theft of a company-owned vehicle that was reportedly taken while its driver was inside a supermarket on Monday night.

In a statement, the Guyana Police Force (GPF) said the incident occurred at about 19:30h on Monday, in the vicinity of Green Heart Street, Mackenzie, Linden, and involved a black 2017 Nissan X-Trail, registration number PWW 2165, owned by a distillery company.

According to initial enquiries, the vehicle was parked on the western side of the roadway while the driver entered a nearby supermarket. When the driver returned, the vehicle was missing, and a report was promptly made at the Mackenzie Police Station.

The GPF said that, acting on information received, ranks later spotted the vehicle and intercepted it in the vicinity of Redwood Crescent, Mackenzie. The 27-year-old suspect, who is from Mackenzie, was arrested and taken to the Mackenzie Police Station, where he remains in custody as the investigation continues.

Police said no injuries were reported, and investigators are expected to review CCTV footage as part of ongoing enquiries.
