The Hydrometeorological Service is warning residents in Region Four to remain alert as heavy to severe thundershowers move northward into the area.
According to the Hydrometeorological Service, strong to deep convective activity is currently affecting Region Four, while portions of Region Five and nearby inland areas are also experiencing heavy to intense rainfall.
The weather system is expected to bring lightning and possible strong gusty winds.
The most intense activity is concentrated across and south of the Timehri area and is extending into nearby coastal locations.
Residents in low-lying and flood-prone communities are being urged to remain cautious, as intense rainfall could lead to rapid water accumulation and reduced visibility.
The Hydrometeorological Service said the potential impacts include heavy rainfall, localised flooding, frequent lightning, strong wind gusts associated with thunderstorms, reduced visibility and hazardous travel conditions.
Motorists and residents are advised to exercise caution while the weather system continues to affect the area.
