Three people are in custody after police ranks responding to a loud music complaint at a Kitty wash bay were allegedly obstructed during a late-night operation, partly captured on video and circulated on social media.
The Guyana Police Force (GPF) said the incident occurred at about 02:05hrs on Tuesday, at a wash bay along the Railway Line, Kitty, Georgetown.
According to police, an unknown caller reported loud, continuous music coming from a motor car at the wash bay, causing annoyance.
The report was communicated to the Police Operations Room, and a patrol was dispatched to the location.
Upon arrival, police said ranks attempted to address the reported disturbance but were allegedly obstructed by several persons while carrying out their duties.
As a result, police summoned an additional patrol to assist. Police subsequently apprehended three persons, who are in custody.
Police said they are working to locate other persons in relation to the incident.
The Force also confirmed that it is aware of video footage circulating on social media showing part of the interaction between police ranks and several persons at the location.
The video appears to show a late-night police presence, several police vehicles and a group of persons gathered near the roadway during the incident.
Police said the circumstances surrounding the entire matter are being investigated.
Investigations are ongoing.
