Two men were killed on Tuesday afternoon in a collision along the Soesdyke–Linden Highway after a car crashed into a parked lorry at Moblissa.
Dead are 49-year-old Brian Manoharlall, a motor lorry driver of Agricola, East Bank Demerara (EBD), and 32-year-old Asham Sultan, a motor car driver of Zeelugt, East Bank Essequibo (EBE).
According to the Guyana Police Force (GPF), the fatal accident occurred around 15:15 hrs on December 9, 2025, at Moblissa.
Police said motor lorry GAG 3120 was parked on the eastern side of the roadway due to mechanical issues and was being attended to by Manoharlall, who was standing at the rear of the vehicle. At the time, motor car PRR 5367, driven by Sultan, was proceeding south along the eastern drive lane.
Initial investigations revealed that the car was allegedly travelling at a fast rate when the driver lost control. The vehicle reportedly collided with Manoharlall at the back of the lorry before slamming into the rear of the truck.
Both Manoharlall and Sultan received injuries about their bodies. A doctor from the Linden Hospital Complex visited the scene and pronounced both men dead.
Their bodies were subsequently taken to the Linden Hospital Mortuary, where they await post-mortem examinations. Police investigations are continuing.
