The taxi driver who was critically injured after being stabbed during a confrontation with another driver in Sophia, Greater Georgetown, has died.
Dead is 36-year-old Casey Chapman of South Sophia. Chapman had been hospitalised since Friday night after he was allegedly stabbed during an argument along Farmers Field, Plum Park, Sophia.
According to police, the incident occurred at about 11:45 p.m. when Chapman was driving in the area and encountered another vehicle coming from the opposite direction.
Investigators said both vehicles came alongside each other and neither was able to pass freely, sparking an argument that quickly escalated into a physical altercation.
Police alleged that during the confrontation, the suspect armed himself with a knife and stabbed Chapman in the middle of his chest. The blade reportedly broke off and remained lodged in Chapman’s chest.
Despite his injuries, Chapman managed to drive himself to the Georgetown Public Hospital, where he was admitted in critical condition. He later succumbed.
The suspect, a 34-year-old painter of South Sophia, was arrested at the scene and remains in police custody as investigations continue.
