“Q-Man” on $1M bail over $153.9M larceny from One Communications

Quincy Baird, also known as “Q-man,” a 37-year-old photographer of Plantation “B”, Herstelling, East Bank Demerara (EBD), has been charged in connection with an alleged larceny by Clerk or Servant offence committed against One Communications Guyana Inc.

Baird appeared on Monday, before Acting Chief Magistrate Faith McGusty at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court, where the charge, Contrary to Section 184 of the Criminal Law (Offences) Act, Chapter 8:01, was read to him. He was not required to plead.

The court granted bail to Baird in the sum of $1,000,000, and the matter was adjourned to Wednesday, February 11, 2026.

As part of the bail conditions, Baird is required to lodge his passport with the court, have no contact with any employee of One Communications Guyana Inc., and report to the CID Headquarters every second Friday of the month.

According to police, the alleged offence, valued at $153,922,971, was committed on the telecommunications company between July 1, 2021 and February 18, 2025.

Police said that on Tuesday, December 23, 2025, at about 16:33 hours, ranks from CID Headquarters conducted an operation on the East Bank Demerara, during which Baird was contacted in relation to the allegation. He was informed of the matter, arrested, and escorted to CID Headquarters.
