A midnight attack at a La Penitence home has landed three men in police custody after gunmen allegedly rode up on a motorcycle and opened fire beneath a woman’s house.
According to the Guyana Police Force (GPF), an investigation is underway into the alleged offense of discharging a loaded firearm with intent, which occurred at about 00:25hrs on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, on Middle Road, La Penitence, Georgetown.
According to police, two suspects arrived at the location on a motorcycle and stopped in front of the woman’s residence.
The pillion rider reportedly got off the motorcycle, entered the yard and discharged several rounds beneath the house.
After the shooting, the suspect rejoined the rider, and they escaped on the motorcycle in an eastern direction.
Acting on information received, police later arrested two men, ages 23 and 25, at South Ruimveldt, Georgetown.
Further investigations led ranks to ‘B’ Field, Sophia, where a motorcycle suspected to have been used in the attack was recovered.
A third suspect, a 27-year-old man, was also arrested. Police said the three suspects remain in custody as investigations continue.
