A gunman walked into a Tuschen, East Bank Essequibo (EBE) casino under the guise of requesting an online top-up Tuesday morning before robbing the business of more than $1.3 million in cash and escaping on a waiting motorcycle.
Police said the alleged robbery under arms occurred around 10:45 a.m. at a casino located at Tuschen.
According to preliminary investigations, a 26-year-old cashier had opened the establishment for business when a man entered and requested an online top-up.
While the cashier was carrying out the transaction, the suspect allegedly pointed a firearm at her and warned her not to make any noise. Police said the man then went behind the counter and allegedly removed $1,340,000 in cash.
After grabbing the money, the suspect exited the casino and escaped on a motorcycle that was waiting outside with an accomplice. No shots were fired during the robbery, and no injuries were reported.
Police said several persons have been questioned as part of the investigation. CCTV cameras were also seen in the area and are expected to be reviewed. No arrests have been made.
Investigations are ongoing.
