A 25-year-old seaman has been hauled before the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court on an armed robbery charge.
Okemi Williams is accused of robbing Dilip Moorjani of cash and jewellery, said to be worth about $3 million, at Kitty, Georgetown, on December 1, 2025.
He pleaded not guilty when the charge was read. The prosecution objected to bail, pointing to the seriousness of the offence.
Williams, however, told the court he had an alibi, claiming he was in Sophia, Greater Georgetown, with his child’s mother when the robbery allegedly occurred.
Prosecutors further alleged that the robbery was carried out with an accomplice who has since pleaded guilty. After hearing both sides, Magistrate Azore granted bail. The matter was adjourned to a later date for the disclosure of statements.
