Police are investigating an alleged robbery under arms committed on a 33-year-old businesswoman at Peters Hall, East Bank Demerara.
According to the Guyana Police Force (GPF), the incident occurred on Thursday, July 23, 2026, at about 14:00hrs at the woman’s business place.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the victim was at the business when she was confronted by three masked men, two of whom were reportedly armed with handguns.
Police said one of the suspects allegedly pointed a firearm at the businesswoman and demanded money. Her hands were then reportedly bound before the suspects relieved her of several valuables.
The stolen items include three Samsung cellular phones, an Acer laptop computer, six Movado watches, a quantity of gold jewellery, GY$5 million in cash and US$7,000 in cash.
The suspects then escaped in a white old-model Toyota Raum bearing registration number PLL 1323. Police said several persons have since been questioned, while CCTV cameras seen in the area are being reviewed.
No shots were fired, and no injuries were reported. Investigations are ongoing.
