A 16-year-old boy lost his life on Tuesday afternoon following a two-vehicle crash along the Maida Public Road, Corentyne, Berbice.
Dead is Porshatam Hoolasia of Port Mourant.
Information gathered indicates that the accident occurred at around 4:00 p.m. and involved motorcars PLL 4312 and PAL 9292.
At the time of the collision, Hoolasia was reportedly in motorcar PLL 4312 along with another occupant, while the second vehicle was being occupied by a lone individual.
The circumstances surrounding the crash remain unclear, but the collision left occupants of both vehicles injured.
Residents and other public-spirited citizens rushed to the scene and helped remove the injured persons from the damaged vehicles before they were taken for medical treatment.
Hoolasia, however, succumbed to his injuries. He was taken to the Port Mourant Public Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Police have since launched an investigation to determine exactly how the fatal accident occurred.
