The Ministry of Housing’s Enforcement Department, on Sunday, supervised the demolition of an unlawful bridge that provided access from property 1211 EE Eccles to the Haags Bosch Four-Lane Highway.
The bridge, which connected the property to the highway, was constructed without the necessary approval. The owner had previously been issued a contravention notice and cautioned to desist from the unlawful construction, but failed to comply.
According to the Ministry, the owner sought permission to operate a Chinese restaurant, but the request was denied.
During a visit to the location, the property owner agreed to remove the structure, and the demolition was carried out under the supervision of the Ministry’s Enforcement officers.
The Ministry said it continues to emphasise the importance of proper land use, adherence to planning regulations, and maintaining law and order, reminding property owners that unauthorised structures and access points to public roadways will not be permitted.
