A 19-year-old Albion Sugar Estate worker was killed early Saturday after the motorcycle he was riding crashed into a utility pole along the Albion Public Road, hours after he left home to watch cricket with friends.
Dead is Danesh Prabudial, also known as “Bryan,” of Lot 505 Belvedere Village, Corentyne, Berbice.
Police said the crash occurred at about 00:45hrs while Prabudial was riding motorcycle CK 360 west along the southern driving lane of the Albion Public Road.
Preliminary reports indicate that the teenager lost control of the motorcycle and collided with a lamp post on the northern side of the road.
The impact reportedly threw Prabudial from the motorcycle onto the roadway, leaving him with injuries about his body.
He was found unconscious by public-spirited persons and taken to the Anamayah Memorial Hospital before being transferred to the Port Mourant Public Hospital.
Prabudial was examined by a doctor at the hospital and pronounced dead on arrival.
His mother, Kavita Tarbudial, told reporters that her son returned home from work at the Albion Sugar Estate at around 18:00hrs on Friday.
About an hour later, he left to join friends who were watching live cricket at a wash bay located a short distance from their home.
Tarbudial said she received a telephone call at around 01:00hrs informing her that her son had been involved in an accident.
The grieving mother said she later learnt that Prabudial had reportedly taken a friend’s motorcycle for a ride when the crash occurred.
His sudden death has left relatives devastated, with his mother describing the 19-year-old as a good son as the family struggles to come to terms with the loss.
