Police have launched an investigation into the alleged discharge of a loaded firearm at No. 78 Village, Corriverton, an incident reported to have occurred on Friday, the Guyana Police Force said.
In a brief statement, police said that on Saturday, December 27, 2025, at about 12:20 hrs, ranks acted on information received and made contact with a sergeant, who was then escorted into custody as the probe continues.
The sergeant has been placed under close arrest, police said, while investigators gather evidence and statements surrounding the allegation.
Police also confirmed that “relevant samples” were taken and lodged as part of the investigation. Investigations are ongoing.
