An unidentified man was shot dead early Sunday morning following a confrontation outside Baroombar Club on North Road, Georgetown.

According to reports, the incident occurred around 7:45 am while another man was urinating on the northern side of North Road, opposite the nightclub.

According to reports, the now-deceased man, who was said to have dreadlocks, approached the man and dealt him a cuff to the head.

The man then allegedly pulled a small handgun from a side bag and pointed it at the victim, pulling the trigger twice. However, no rounds were discharged.

Investigators were told that the suspect then used the firearm to lash the victim twice to the head, causing him to fall onto the roadway.

While the victim was on the ground, the suspect reportedly struck him again with the gun. At that moment, a loud explosion was heard.

Police said the suspect then placed the firearm back into his side bag and walked away west along North Road, leaving the victim motionless on the road.

The police were later summoned, and a doctor pronounced the man dead. A gunshot wound was observed on the right side of his head. Police are continuing investigations.
