GDF Special Forces recover pilot’s body from ASL crash site

The body of the pilot in the Air Services Limited Cessna 208 crash has been recovered by members of the Guyana Defence Force Special Forces, according to an update from the Guyana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA).

In a press release issued on Monday, the Rescue Coordination Centre confirmed that the GDF team successfully reached the crash site of the aircraft, registration number 8R-YAC.

Authorities said the pilot’s body was recovered, and preparations are now being made to extract it from the area.

The Ministry of Public Utilities and Aviation, the Guyana Civil Aviation Authority and the Guyana Defence Force have since extended condolences to the pilot’s relatives and the wider aviation community.

The aircraft had crashed in the vicinity of Imbaimadai, prompting an emergency response and a challenging search operation. Investigations into the crash are continuing.
