A fire on Robb Street, Georgetown, has badly affected Update Trendz Setter Boutique, located at Lot 84 Robb Streeton on Thursday.
Water Tenders #130 and #131, Water Carriers #20, #26 and #30, along with Ambulance #25 and crews from Fire Service Headquarters, Campbellville and Eccles Fire Stations, were dispatched to the scene.
When firefighters arrived, the building was already fully engulfed in flames. The GFS said crews launched a coordinated operation and were eventually able to bring the blaze under control before extinguishing it.
Minister of Home Affairs Oneidge Walrond was also at the scene while firefighters carried out operations. Firefighters subsequently began mop-up exercises to extinguish remaining hotspots and reduce the risk of the fire rekindling.
The extent of the damage has not yet been disclosed. The Fire Service said an investigation has been launched to determine what caused the fire.
