Police are investigating the discovery of the body of a 53-year-old Cuban national along the Railway Embankment at Coldingen, East Coast Demerara, on Wednesday morning.
Dead is Wilbur Fonseca of Eccles, East Bank Demerara. According to the Guyana Police Force (GPF), the body was found at about 6:31 a.m. lying motionless on the southern side of the embankment.
Police ranks who responded to the scene examined the body and reported that no visible marks of violence were observed. Investigators said a cellular phone was found in the deceased man’s pants pocket, while his driver’s licence and one boot were discovered nearby.
A doctor who visited the scene pronounced Fonseca dead. His body was later taken to Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, where it is awaiting a post-mortem examination. Investigations are ongoing.
