Police Lance Corporal Kristoff De Nobrega was on Thursday acquitted of the murder of Quindon Bacchus, who was fatally shot on June 10, 2022, at Haslington, East Coast Demerara (ECD).

High Court Judge Justice Gino Persaud on Thursday upheld a no-case submission made by De Nobrega’s attorney George Thomas.

Bacchus, a father of one, was shot on June 10 during what the Guyana Police Force (GPF) claimed was an intelligence-led operation at Haslington New Scheme.

According to the Police, a 22-year-old construction worker who provided “certain information” led ranks to Bacchus, who allegedly possessed a firearm and intended to sell it to one of the ranks.

While handing the firearm to the rank, the GPF claimed that Bacchus opened gunfire on DeNobrega, who shot him in the process.
