Bartica woman held after police find 351.6 grams of ganja during raid

A Bartica woman is in police custody after ranks reportedly found 351.6 grams of cannabis during an intelligence-led operation on Friday.

According to the Guyana Police Force (GPF), the operation was conducted between 10:30 hrs and 11:20 hrs at a residence on Fifth Avenue, Bartica, occupied by a 37-year-old self-employed female.

Preliminary investigations revealed that police searched the home and found a black plastic bag containing a transparent parcel with leaves, seeds and stems suspected to be cannabis. The suspected narcotic was reportedly discovered inside a wardrobe.

The suspect was arrested and taken to the Bartica Police Station, where the cannabis was weighed in her presence and amounted to 351.6 grams before being lodged.
