A 38-year-old gold miner of Bartica, Emanuel Williams, also known as “Chiny,” was stabbed to death during an altercation at a bar at 14 Mile Issano Landing, Middle Mazaruni on Friday.
In a statement, the Guyana Police Force (GPF) said the incident occurred at about 23:30 hrs. Investigators reported that Williams was at a bar in the area when he became involved in an altercation with a male, during which he sustained a stab wound to the chest.
Williams was escorted to the Bartica Regional Hospital, where his body was held pending a post-mortem examination.
Police said a post-mortem examination was conducted on Monday, January 26, 2026, by Government Pathologist Dr. Nehaul Singh at the Memorial Gardens Funeral Home. The cause of death was determined as a perforation of the lung and heart due to a stab wound to the chest.
The body was subsequently handed over to relatives for burial. Police said efforts are ongoing to locate and apprehend the suspect as investigations continue.
