Bagotville businessman arrested after CANU finds cannabis, ecstasy

A 61-year-old Bagotville businessman is in custody after officers of the Customs Anti-Narcotic Unit (CANU) found quantities of cannabis and ecstasy during an operation on the West Bank of Demerara (WBD).

CANU said that on Thursday, ranks acted on information received and conducted an operation at a residence at Lot 108 David Rose Street, Bagotville. A search of the premises unearthed cannabis and ecstasy.

The agency identified the suspect as Prince Bagot, 61, a businessman of the same address. He was arrested and escorted to CANU’s Headquarters along with the drugs.

According to CANU, the seized narcotics weighed 912 grams for the cannabis and 11 grams for the ecstasy. Investigations are ongoing.
