A 26-year-old fisherman and a 63-year-old woman are in police custody after ganja was found during an intelligence-led operation at a home in Unity, Mahaica, East Coast Demerara (ECD), on Thursday night.
According to the Guyana Police Force (GPF), the discovery was made at about 20:00h when ranks searched the residence and found a black plastic bag concealed in the kitchen area.

Police said the bag contained several small zip-lock plastic bags filled with leaves, seeds and stems. The two residents were arrested and escorted to the Cove and John Police Station along with the ganja.
The drug was later weighed in their presence and amounted to 82.11 grams before it was processed and lodged as investigations continue. Both suspects remain in custody.
