Linden clerk, 24, remanded over fatal shooting of ex-boyfriend

A 24-year-old clerk of Central Amelia’s Ward, Linden, has been remanded to prison after being charged in connection with the murder of her former boyfriend, Amar Jones.

Shania Benjamin, who appeared before Magistrate Rushelle Liverpool at the Linden Magistrate’s Court via Zoom, was remanded for the murder of Jones, who was fatally shot at Half Mile, Wismar, Linden on Tuesday, December 30, 2025.

She was not required to plead, and the matter was adjourned to Monday, February 16, 2026.

Police said the shooting occurred about 15:00 hrs along Half Mile Public Road, Wismar, Linden. Reports revealed that Jones, a 27-year-old driver of One Mile, Wismar, was travelling in a motor canter when he was approached by a motor car.

Investigators reported that an unidentified male exited the car and discharged several rounds in Jones’ direction, then re-entered the vehicle and fled the scene.

When police arrived, Jones was found motionless in the driver’s seat. He was rushed to the Linden Hospital Complex, where he was pronounced dead on arrival by a doctor on duty.
