Neil Medas, called ‘Shoulders’, 48, who has no fixed place of abode, is in custody and has confessed to the early Monday morning break-in at the Ministry of Home Affairs.
While Medas was arrested on Charlotte Street, Georgetown, law enforcement officials were able to recover the stolen items. In a statement earlier on Monday, the Home Affairs Ministry said that at about 04:00 hours, an unknown individual unlawfully entered the Ministry’s building.
“Security personnel detected the intruder via CCTV cameras and immediately raised an alarm. One officer pursued the individual but was unsuccessful in apprehension,” the Ministry noted.
The Guyana Police Force (GPF) was promptly notified, and an investigation was launched.
