A 17-year-old Linden Technical Institute student and her boyfriend are dead following a suspected murder-suicide at her Block 22, Wismar home on Monday afternoon.
The teenager has been identified as Toisha Andrew, while the man is 21-year-old Anthony Kellon Cato.
According to preliminary reports, Andrew had returned home from school when Cato approached her and allegedly opened fire. The incident occurred at approximately 4:30 p.m.
Cato reportedly then turned the weapon on himself. A .32 pistol was reportedly found near his body.
Andrew was taken to the Linden Hospital, where she was pronounced dead. Cato was pronounced dead at the scene.
The circumstances leading to the shooting remain unclear, and police in Linden are investigating.
Cato reportedly worked as a taxi driver and was also employed through the Government’s 10-day work programme. Investigations are ongoing.
