Police seize suspected illegally imported drinks in Port Kaituma; 1 arrested

Police seized a large quantity of suspected illegally imported alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks from a business in Port Kaituma on Wednesday.

The Guyana Police Force (GPF) said officers searched the premises at Turn Basin in the North West District on Wednesday as part of an intelligence-led investigation.

During the search, ranks found beverages they suspected had entered the country unlawfully. The goods were seized and taken to the Port Kaituma Police Station as investigators worked to establish their import status.

The businesswoman, a Port Kaituma resident, remained in custody assisting with the investigation, according to the Police Force.
