Guyana is set to host two major regional maritime meetings this month, bringing together senior officials, port state control officers, industry stakeholders, and representatives from across the Caribbean.

Approximately 40 delegates from 20 member and associate member states, along with observers and representatives from other territories, are expected in Guyana for the 31st Caribbean Port State Control Conference.

The conference will be held from June 16 to 18, 2026, at the AC Marriott Hotel in Ogle.

According to the Maritime Administration Department, the conference will focus on strengthening regional cooperation and harmonising efforts to improve vessel safety, compliance and port state control practices across the Caribbean.

The event is also expected to provide a platform for maritime administrations, port state control officers, and industry stakeholders to share best practices, examine emerging challenges in the sector, and advance compliance with international maritime standards.

Guyana will also host the Regional Meeting of Directors and Heads of Maritime Administrations from June 22 to 24, 2026, at the Aiden by Best Western in Georgetown.

The meeting, known as DIHMAR, is being convened under the International Maritime Organization and will bring together senior maritime officials to review developments in the sector, strengthen regional cooperation, and advance initiatives supporting maritime safety, security, and environmental protection.
