Police find cocaine stash near abandoned house at Lusignan Squatting Area

Police have launched an investigation after a quantity of suspected cocaine was discovered during an operation at the Lusignan Squatting Area, East Coast Demerara (ECD), on Monday afternoon.

According to the Guyana Police Force (GPF), the suspected narcotics were found between 3:30 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. during an exercise conducted by ranks in Regional Division 4 ‘C’.

Police said officers searched an abandoned wooden house in the area and later found a black plastic bag in nearby grass, about two feet away from the structure.

Further checks allegedly uncovered several transparent zip-lock bags containing a white rock-like substance suspected to be cocaine.

The suspected cocaine was taken to the Vigilance Police Station, where it was weighed and amounted to 20.9 grams before being lodged.

No one has been arrested in connection with the find. Investigations are ongoing.
