A 28-year-old Georgetown man was on Friday remanded to prison after appearing before the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts on a murder charge linked to the fatal stabbing of another man earlier this year.
Shane Bourne of Laing Avenue appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate Faith McGusty, where the allegation against him was formally read. The charge states that Bourne murdered Travere ‘Arthur’ Ridley on January 29, 2026, at James Street, Albouystown, Georgetown.
As the offence is indictable, Bourne was not required to enter a plea at this stage of the proceedings. During the hearing, the prosecution told the court that the case is still in its preliminary phase, with statements yet to be handed over and the police file still being completed.
Following the brief court appearance, Bourne was remanded to prison. The case was adjourned to June 3, 2026.
Ridley was killed during a violent attack on James Street, Albouystown, in which two other men were also injured.
Police had said the killing took place when a masked and armed assailant opened fire in what investigators described as an execution-style assault.
Up to the time of the court appearance, investigators had not publicly identified a motive for the killing.
