Gunmen invade Eccles home, rob three Chinese nationals of cash and documents

Police are investigating a robbery under arms committed against three Chinese nationals at Eccles, East Bank Demerara (EBD), on Friday afternoon.

According to the Guyana Police Force (GPF), the incident occurred at about 3:53 p.m.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the victims had just returned home and were getting out of their motor car in the garage when they were confronted by four identifiable men, one of whom was armed with a handgun.

Police said the bandits forced the victims into the house and proceeded to ransack both the upper and lower flats.

During the robbery, the victims were reportedly relieved of $500,000 in Guyana currency, US$900, 1,000 Mexican dollars, 200 Hong Kong dollars, a Chinese identification card, and other documents.

Investigators have since extracted CCTV footage from cameras attached to the residence, and the footage is now forming part of the probe.
