Police have arrested two men from Mocha, East Bank Demerara (EBD), in connection with an armed robbery at a Chinese supermarket on the West Coast Demerara (WCD) and a break-and-enter-and-larceny at Eccles.

According to the Guyana Police Force (GPF), the arrests were made during an intelligence-led operation carried out by ranks in Regional Division 4 ‘B’ between 3:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. on Friday.

The suspects are a 22-year-old vendor of Barnwell North, Mocha, and a 21-year-old construction worker from the same community.

Police said the two men were arrested in relation to a robbery under arms committed on a Chinese supermarket at Goed Fortuin, on April 6, 2026, as well as a break-and-enter-and-larceny at a dwelling house in Eccles on the same date.

Both men were taken to the Providence Police Station, where they were questioned and later placed into custody. Investigators also obtained and reviewed CCTV footage from both crime scenes, which police said assisted in the probe.

The two suspects remain in custody as investigations continue.
