Minister of Home Affairs, Hon. Oneidge Walrond, M.P., stated that the system strengthens transparency and improves public access to services while supporting enforcement of the national tint regulations.

Under the new regulations, the minimum allowable Visible Light Transmission (VLT) levels are 25% for front side windows and 20% for rear side windows and the rear windscreen, with no tint permitted on the front windscreen except for a 6-inch visor strip.

The amnesty period ends March 31, 2026, after which the Guyana Police Force will fully enforce the regulations. Non-compliance may result in a G$30,000 fine.
