A Sunday evening in Parfaite Harmonie, West Bank Demerara (WBD), ended in tragedy after a father of four was allegedly stabbed to death at a community shop.
Dead is Indae Ramotar, a welder in his late 60s. The incident occurred at about 19:30h.
According to information reaching this publication, Ramotar had left his home to buy an item when the suspect confronted him. Residents claim the suspect has been behaving erratically and is believed to be of unsound mind.
The suspect reportedly approached Ramotar and made the alarming statement, “I want blood,” before launching the attack.
Reports indicate that Ramotar was stabbed several times in the abdomen while inside the shop. Witnesses said that after the attack, the suspect walked out and continued along the roadway in a calm manner.
Residents and other persons in the area reportedly pursued and restrained the suspect, holding him until ranks of the Guyana Police Force (GPF) arrived on the scene.
An ambulance was summoned, but Ramotar was examined and pronounced dead. The suspect remains in police custody as the investigation continues.
