Vendor, carpenter injured in late-night shooting at Amelia’s Ward, Linden

A late-night shooting in Lover’s Lane, Central Amelia’s Ward, Linden, on Sunday has left a vendor and a carpenter nursing gunshot wounds.

According to the Guyana Police Force (GPF), the incident occurred at about 22:30 hrs while a 32-year-old vendor of Central Amelia’s Ward was standing in front of his shop and a 36-year-old carpenter of South Amelia’s Ward was walking nearby.

During that time, a motor car drove up and stopped close to them, and an individual inside the vehicle allegedly opened fire in their direction.

The vendor was hit in the chest, while the carpenter sustained a gunshot wound to his foot. Both injured men were rushed to the Linden Hospital Complex, where they were examined and treated by medical personnel.

Police said the 32-year-old vendor has since been transferred to the Georgetown Public Hospital for further medical attention, while the carpenter remains a patient at the Linden Hospital Complex. Their conditions are reported as stable.

No arrests have been made so far, and investigations are ongoing.
