A 15-year-old girl of Good Hope, Region Two died on Monday, leaving relatives in shock and her one-month-old baby without a mother.
The teen has been identified as Aleena Preetam. Reports indicate that family members grew alarmed after hearing the infant crying for an extended period at the home. When relatives checked the bedroom, they found Preetam lying motionless on a bed and unresponsive.
Preetam previously attended Abram Zuil Secondary School and later transferred to another secondary institution before dropping out, according to information received.
After leaving school, she became pregnant and gave birth about a month ago. The delivery was reportedly without complications, and both mother and baby returned home.
However, relatives say the young mother went to sleep and did not wake up. The cause of death remains uncertain, and an investigation has been launched to determine the circumstances surrounding the teen’s passing.
