The teenage boy whose body was pulled from the Demerara River behind the Marriott Hotel on March 28, 2026, has been identified as 14-year-old Daniel Perriera of Lot 8 C Field, Sophia, Greater Georgetown.
Police had initially said the deceased was an unidentified male of African descent believed to be in his early teens after the body was discovered floating in the river at about 10:40 a.m. on the day in question.
According to the earlier police report, persons walking along the jetty at the Kingston Seawall spotted the body in the water and raised an alarm.
The body was subsequently retrieved from the river and examined by a doctor on duty, who pronounced the teen dead. Police had said no marks of violence were observed on the body.
