A 30-year-old labourer was stabbed to death during an altercation at Meten-Meer-Zorg, West Coast Demerara (WCD) on Friday.
Dead is Fendel Trotman, also known as “Johnny” or “Rasta Man” of Anna Catherina.
The Guyana Police Force (GPF) said the incident occurred at about 10:00 hours while Trotman was working as a mason at a two-storey concrete structure along the Meten-Meer-Zorg Public Road.
Enquiries revealed that an argument reportedly erupted between Trotman and another male, which escalated into a scuffle. During the confrontation, the suspect, who was armed with a knife, allegedly inflicted a stab wound to Trotman’s chest before fleeing the scene on foot.
The injured man was assisted and rushed to the De Kinderen Regional Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival by a doctor on duty, police said.
Investigators reported that a knife sheath was found in the building and that CCTV cameras in the vicinity were identified and will be reviewed as part of the probe. Trotman’s body was later taken to the Ezekiel Funeral Parlour, where it awaits a post-mortem examination. No arrests have been made, and investigations are ongoing.
