The announcement followed a high-level meeting between President Dr. Irfaan Ali and Panamanian President José Raúl Mulino, which focused on deepening bilateral cooperation and expanding areas of mutual interest.

Guyana, for its part, outlined several opportunities for collaboration, including partnerships in oil and gas, logistics, agriculture, climate action, and regional security. President Ali noted that these sectors present strong prospects for shared growth and deeper economic integration between the two countries.

During the talks, Guyana also invited Panama to join the Global Biodiversity Alliance as a founding member, an invitation that Panama accepted, signalling alignment on environmental protection and climate resilience initiatives.

Both leaders agreed on the importance of strengthening private-sector collaboration, enhancing regional connectivity, and exploring opportunities for energy integration. They also committed to continued high-level engagement aimed at advancing shared prosperity, regional cooperation, and sustainable development across the Caribbean and Latin American region.
